What is the Irish Box?
The Irish Box established in 1986 was a conservation box 50 miles off the Irish coast, designed to conserve fish and to allow immature fish to grow. All vessels included Irish were restricted in their operation within the Irish Box. Due to pressure from our EU partners the Irish Box was abolished.
